I'm Penny, a BA graduate in Textile Design from RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. With a flourishing career that spans over fifteen years, I've honed my skills in both the home interior and fashion markets. My professional path has taken me from Australia to the UK, and extensively through Sweden, where I spent 22 enriching years.

Now back in Melbourne, my design philosophy continues to be deeply influenced by the minimalistic yet warm aesthetics of Scandinavian design—a style I embraced during my years in Sweden. My work also draws inspiration from the Arts & Crafts Movement, known for its meticulous balance and detail. My creations are cheerful, witty, and have a delightful naïveté, all designed with a commercially astute color palette. Mastery of color is one of my greatest strengths, enabling me to give every pattern the right balance and feel.

In my career, I've had the privilege of working with prominent clients like Borås Tapeter and Hemtex, and designing children’s wear for Lindex for 10 years, a major Swedish fashion brand. As the creative lead at Penny Bernhardsson, my own freelance surface pattern design and illustration business, I continue to translate vibrant ideas into tangible designs.

I am known for my thoughtful design process and exceptional attention to detail, ensuring that every project I undertake is executed with precision and creativity.
